"Hellraiser: Hellseeker" review

Hellraiser: Hellseeker (2002)

Directed by Rick Bota
Writing credits Clive Barker Carl V. Dupré

Dean Winters.... Trevor Gooden
Ashley Laurence.... Kirsty Cotton
Doug Bradley.... Pinhead/Merchant (as Charles Stead)
Rachel Hayward.... Dr. Allison

Pinhead becomes an afterthought in another confusing "Hellraiser" sequel. But funny enough, I still liked it. It's basically the story of a guy who has a lot of weird things happen to him. So the question the movie ponders is, "Why is all this weird stuff happening to him?" Since the name of the movie is "Hellraiser", it's a good bet that Pinhead is involved.

My favorite "Hellraiser" is still part 2, Hellbound. For me, "Hellraiser" is and should be S&M horror. Part 2 was brutally violent in its depiction of Hell. The whole S&M vibe fits hand in glove with the punishments of Hell. So now the most wicked get aroused by the beatings and torture that the Cenobites give out.

Pinhead needs more screen time. He is the Hell the people seek. I liked this flick though. Dean Winters was really good at conveying desperation and uncertainty. But still, Pinhead is the star. I would have liked to have seen more of the Prince of Darkness.

SCORE: 2 out of 4 Pinheads
