"The Postman" review

The Postman (1997)

Directed by Kevin Costner
Writing credits Eric Roth

Kevin Costner.... The Postman
Will Patton.... General Bethlehem
Larenz Tate.... Ford Lincoln Mercury
Olivia Williams.... Abby
James Russo.... Idaho
Tom Petty.... Bridge City Mayor

This movie breaks one of the sacred movie laws. It clearly states that if you have two armies facing each other down, you must have a battle. But disaster strikes and Kevin Costner ruins a big battle scene on some technicality. Lame! I wept.

Corny does not even begin to describe this movie. There are so many terrible lines your stomach will boil over. "You bring hope out of your pockets Mr. Postman!" I'm paraphrasing but you get the idea. Kevin Costner goes way over the top with this one. It even ends with a statue in his honor. Uhhhhh.. I'm getting that sinking feeling remembering it all.

I can forgive a movie a lot of things if the violence and other crowd pleasing elements are there. This was a total rip-off. Post apocalyptic snooze.

SCORE: LANDFILL
